Tiny Titans (3-6 yr. olds)
This program is designed to introduce our youngest students to basic concepts and movements to create a foundation for learning jiu-jitsu. We focus on simple techniques, body control, and safe learning built into lessons and games.
In each structured class we will incorporate exercise and technical learning and of course have fun. These classes are 30-minutes in length and run twice a week.
A sample class will begin with lining up to shake hands with each instructor, followed by warm up exercises including running, jumping jacks, and squats followed by more sport specific exercises like bear crawls, shrimping, and rolls. Students will then learn and practice a simple technique followed by a technical game to foster fundamental skills for success in jiu-jitsu.
Finally our classes will always end with fun games to burn off some energy and then a group chat with the instructor to talk about an important value for training (and life) such as respect for others, listening, self-discipline, courage, etc.
Warriors (6-10 yr. olds)
Structured similar to our Tiny Titans class, our Warriors Program will run 45 minutes and focus on the fundamentals of jiu jitsu including body positioning and submissions. We will incorporate more details for our older students to learn how to train jiu-jitsu in a safe way.
This program will start to build a foundation of skills necessary to empower children with the ability to defend themselves if necessary, but also the self-discipline to diffuse a situation when possible.
Kids No-Gi (3-10 yr. olds)
This weekly class is designed to supplement the learning for our weekday members and is open to all members. It is also a good way for us to introduce kids who may be hesitant as they can simply drop-in for a class to try. The class will be structured but less formal than our BJJ classes and students will just wear comfortable, athletic clothes.
In all our kids programs students will be expected to behave appropriately, but we understand that each child is different and each day is different. As parents ourselves, we will try our best to bring the best out of each child and keep them engaged in a fun learning environment.
Children will work each month to learn the techniques and will test for a stripe (or new belt) each month and progress through the IBJFF graduation system. These ranks are not given, but earned from a combination of attendance, behavior, and an understanding and execution of the techniques.
